Public Health Innovations in REsearch and Development

Our vision is to apply our unique knowledge and skills sets to improving the public’s health by enhancing community capacity to increase economic development and engage in community-based participatory research and through developing and applying improved methods to measure diet and other health-related behaviors.

Our mission is to:

Encourage and Support communities at high risk of chronic diseases, especially African Americans in South Carolina, to:

Develop organizational capacity needed to increase the economic prospects; and Engage as equal partners with university collaborators in community-based participatory research.

Develop new methods of assessing diet and other lifestyle-related behaviors that can lead to improvements in health.

Disseminate and apply existing and new knowledge and measurement methods in ways that are likely to lead to materially important improvements in health and reduction of health disparities.
